Smooth Lining

If you wish to tile the inside of your recess I suggest first following the “smooth lining” method of tarting up the inside of your builder’s opening.

Concrete board is perfect for tiling on to and provides a flat surface.

I always used standard tiles (anything that has been fired in a kiln should stand the heat from a log burner!) and standard tile adhesive and grout.
