BUILDING REGULATION COMPLIANT—includes sweep access, ability to remove stove without dismantling chimney, wall-lined with sleeve and no 'connection between parts' in wall. All building regulation requirements often ignored by other sellers.

Creating a clip together chimney for a wood burning stove is not difficult but there are quite a few possible "design scenarios" for different building types. But going out through a wall is almost always the same for everybody. The idea of our "easy peasy" kits is to start you off with the key parts. You just add straights to gain height, a bracket or two and a cowl (from the "you may also need" section on this page).

We strongly recommend you watch the six minute video on this page that explains Chimney design rules and regulations.

Black is the silver powder coated on top of surface. Twin wall is stainless steel professional Silvacore PRO manufactured by Duraflue. We have chosen this as it does not rust, fade or yellow. Julian, author of the Stovefitter's Manual, has a Silvacore PRO twin wall chimney on his own home (since 2014).

Note: Best performance is realised by attaching a flue to the top, rather than the rear of the stove. This is because smoke likes to rise.

"Easy peasy chimney design"

Julian Patrick, site owner and author of The Stovefitter's Manual.

This kit includes a superbly designed part called the 135 degree T with prolonged adjustable snout. The long snout extends or retracts like a trombone so you can adapt it to the wall thickness. It also allows you to sweep most of your chimney outside the property.

You might ask "Can I not just have an elbow on the outside of the building—instead of this more expensive part?". The answer is yes, you can use an elbow instead (see a different kit)—but only if your complete flue only requires two changes of direction. For example, on a gable end with no roof overhang you do not need further bends than the one inside the house and the one outside. But if you wish to add two more bends (max. is 4 in total), then you have to have the 135 degree T with its "building regulation legal" soot/sweep access door.

To keep it simple—if you desire to use four bends then you need this part with its soot door (theb 135 T counts as two of the four bend limit and allows you to add two more). Just two bends in total and you can save some money by replacing it with a straight length through the wall and an elbow.

We recommend you watch the video (below) on chimney design.

Great customer service from start to finish

Ref 22045
Used the free design service - but a top tip - please ensure you get the design reviewed by the team as not all components are listed in the design. Learnt that the hard way, but the team were quickly on hand to ensure everything was ordered. Even when things went wrong (cause was out of their control) - they were quickly and professionally rectified. Great service!
