The Ekol Clarity 8: sturdy, tough and excellent value

Customers say

Owners of the Ekol Clarity 8 often praise its strong heat output, sturdy build and good value for money. Several reviewers mention that it heats more space than expected, making it a good choice for larger rooms. Others like the traditional look, large viewing window and straightforward operation once the air controls are understood.

A few also note that, as a DEFRA stove, it does not shut down as tightly as some older models, but overall it is seen as a dependable, hard-working stove that delivers plenty of heat for the price.

What these specs mean

External air

External air compatibility means a stove can take combustion air directly from outside, rather than relying only on air from the room. This model is not external air compatible.

12mm hearth

A 12mm hearth suitable stove can usually sit on a thinner decorative hearth, rather than needing a constructional hearth, subject to the manufacturer’s instructions.

DEFRA approved

DEFRA approval means the stove can be used to burn wood legally in UK smoke control areas, provided it is installed and used correctly with suitable fuel.

Distance to combustibles

This is the minimum safe gap between the stove and combustible materials such as timber, plasterboard, furniture, shelves, beams or a wooden fireplace surround.

Efficiency

Efficiency shows how much of the fuel’s energy is turned into useful heat for the room. Higher efficiency usually means less heat wasted up the chimney.

Multifuel

A multifuel stove is designed to burn wood and suitable approved solid fuels. Always follow the stove instructions and use the correct fuel for clean, safe burning.
