Woodford chadwick 8

Stove was collected and installed by one of stovefitters listed installers, efficiently and neatly.
As for the stove , it is well made and good looking, I had a Clearview for 28 years which was excellent, but now too expensive for me , the Chadwick has a few design snags it tends to spill ash out onto the fireplace hearth, and one bad problem itji spills smoke when refuelling especially with solid fuel, so you have to be quick and get the door shut, this seems to be the flue baffle plate design and a shallow fuel box, i will monitor it as the clearview never really had this problem being a bigger stove.
But value for money it is.

Woodford Chadwick Stove (12) delivered 12/01/24

I have now received my stove which is exactly as described and looks great. However, the delivery was postponed for one day. This was disappointing considering that the delivery date was chosen to give them a few days to sort out their new stock. I had to take the initiative to find out what was happening - All it would have taken was a simple text from the supplier. I might have deducted one star for overall poor communication. Nevertheless they regained the star because the driver of the delivery van was really helpful. The way the stove was packaged with various protective layers was excellent and deserves 5 Stars Plus. They also deserve 5 Stars for a really good printed booklet. However, the illustrations could be improved because the figures are only just decipherable - the illustrations are too black and could be improved with some shades of grey.
They supplier has offered a 2 year warrantee on the glass door if I write a positive review - I want to emphasise that my comments have not been influenced by this offer; but it did encourage me to write the review. The website is very good (I only looked at the one product that I bought because 12KW stoves are difficult to find). The details of the product are comprehensive. Further, the details of what you need to buy in order to install the stove are excellent, even if you are not going to install it yourself. It helps you evaluate quotations you may receive for the installation. The lifetime guarantee is a big plus and deserves 5 stars.
Their flue price seems high if you do a search on the web.

Double stove purchase.

We originally bought 2 new stoves, a Portway Flavel Arundel 5 and Woodford Chadwick 8. Both stoves arrived in good time but only one of the 2 couriers was willing to help me move their delivery from the kerbside into my hall (bear this in mind! They won't do 2 man deliveries so moving it from the kerb is 100% up to you to organise).
The door on the Chadwick was warped (how I have no idea) so we had to repack and mont the stove on a pallet for a return, Stovefitters sent us some packing straps, thankyou! We felt let down by the poor quality and lack of quality checking so ordered an Ekol Pumpkin Pie 7.4kw with a fitted hotplate (this is fitted and very good indeed).
The other stove we bought (Portway Arundel) again was a disappointment as the circular plate for covering the rear or top flue point (we fed from the rear point) sits well proud of the top of the stove, not flush as with, well, every other stove in existence!
We had already fitted and tested it so could not return it, SF offered a £100 discount as the manufacturer said this was designed this way. We only bought this stove as it was SF best budget stove but nowhere does it show this issue (on SF website or anywhere else). Overall, thankyou for your assistance with the many problems SF team but we do feel let down with the Portway stove and the lack of clarity on this.
